Shortly before 7:00 PM on Wednesday night, the brush fire attack units from Arcadia were alerted to assist the Westminster Fire Department. Crews from WFD arrived on scene with a brush pile fire near railroad tracks in the vicinity of Gorsuch Road and S. Tannery Road. The fire, located near the tracks, but well of the road surface, posed a problem for most units to access. Brush 436, a 1976 CJ-5 Jeep known for its "Go anywhere, do anything" attitude, was the only unit able to make it down the railroad tracks to attempt fire attack. Unfortunately, with no way to set up a suitable water supply, the crew from Brush 436 was only able to extinguish a small amount of the fire. Due to the limited access of the location, and the minimal risk of the fire spreading, the incident commander elected to let the fire burn itself out in a controlled fashion. Brush 436 remained on scene for almost two hours, while the Utility and ATV-43 returned slightly sooner due to a mechanical malfunction.
