| On Sunday morning, the members of Arcadia Volunteer Fire Company were honored by the Pastor and Consistory of the St. Marks United Church of Christ. Arcadia, represented by EMS Sergeant Matthew Burgan, attended the morning service with members of the Hampstead Volunteer Fire Company and the Hampstead Junior Fire Company. Pastor Gary Hawkins spoke highly of the work performed by members of the Arcadia and Hampstead Fire Companies, as well as all firefighters, EMT's, and police officers alike, and graciously thanked them all for their service. Today's service was chosen to coincide with National Fire Prevention Week, a national week of observation which serves to commemorate the Great Chicago Fire of 1871 and serve as a reminder to the public about fire safety. The members of the Arcadia Volunteer Fire Company were grateful to be honored in this morning ceremony and want to thank the members of their community and those surrounding, for all of their support year round. |
