| Wednesday evening turned out to be busy for the Volunteers of Arcadia. It started at approximately 6:30pm when the station was alerted for a tree fire in the 5100 Block of Trenton Mill Road. When the crew of Engine 434 arrived, they found a 30' tall tree burning on the upper half. The fire was ignited when high winds blew nearby power lines into the tree. The crew remained on scene until a truck from BGE could arrive and secure the electric. Once safe, Engine 434's crew extinguished the fire. Engine 434 was operated on scene for an hour. BGE placed a special, protective cover on the wires for the night, and was set to return to remove the tree branches from the vicinity of the power lines the following day. Then, shortly before 2:00am, Thursday morning, crews were alerted to respond on a vehicle collision, reported roll-over, near Upper Beckleysville Rd and Marshall Mill Road. Again, a crew from Arcadia responded with Engine 432, along with other units from Baltimore and Carroll Counties, to investigate the collision. Crews reported severe icing conditions during response and in the area of the incident. They arrived to find a single SUV on its roof, in the middle of Upper Beckleysville Road, inside the Carroll County boundary. Engine 432 arrived and found the patient being cared for by a crew from Reisterstown Volunteer Fire Company on Medic 415. After securing the scene and mitigating hazards, Engine 432 returned to service |
