In the 4 am hour of 5/11/15 Arcadia units were alerted and responded to assist Carroll County on a 13-2 (Gamber} Fire Box on Sykesville Rd. We responded with Engine 432. Upon arrival our crew was to stand by as the RIT, Which stands for Rapid Intervention Team, This team is used in the event of a Fire Fighter Emergency inside the Fire to extricate the injured or trapped Fire Fighter. Thankfully that was not needed on this fire. After a period of time we were replaced with another crew and our company was asked to go inside the house and look for fire extension and cut holes through the ceiling into the attic to look for more fire in the walls. Upon entering we immediately encountered fire on the back wall, and quickly extinguished it and moved on to perform our cuts. These cuts were made more difficult in the fact that this was an older house which had several layers of sheet rock and plywood to cut through, as well as a difficult time for the outside crews due to the fact it was all tin roof which helped to hold in the heat. Units from Carroll and Baltimore counties were on the scene for several hours.
