| On Wednesday, Arcadia Volunteer's Gary "Tadpole" Snyder was recognized at the annual McCormick Shareholder Meeting held in Hunt Valley, MD. The meeting, celebrating McCormick's 125 years, drew a crowd of over 900 people. Gary, a long time employee for McCormick, was recognized during an early part of the meeting, in which McCormick spotlighted employees who volunteer in their communities. The McCormick Community Service Award honors employees who demonstrate what improving communities is all about. A total of five employees from McCormick's global employee-base were recognized, each one receiving money for their individual volunteer programs. 4 runner-ups each received $5,000 for their organizations, and the winner received $25,000 for theirs. Gary was the only volunteer firefighter recognized of the five, with the other nominees representing a local Boys Hope and Girls Hope organization, cancer research groups, and a shelter. In his 18+ years serving at the Arcadia Volunteer Fire Company, Gary has donated over 7,500 hours of service. This includes areas such as fundraising, equipment maintenance, and grounds maintenance. He has also served on several committees, held the offices of President, Vice President, and Lieutenant, and has responded to hundreds of fire and EMS calls. For his service, Gary has been acknowledged with unit citations twice by the Baltimore County Fire Department, and has received both the EMS Provider of the Year and Firefighter of the Year award from Arcadia. The Officers and Members of the Arcadia Volunteer Fire Company would like to acknowledge Gary and congratulate him on being recognized as a runner up for McCormick's 2014 Community Service Award, and thank him for all of his years of herd work and dedication which has helped shape Arcadia into the successful organization that it is today. |
