| On Sunday night, crews from Arcadia and Boring Volunteers came together to participate in CPR training. The training, taught by a local instructor, lasted several hours and refreshed members on standard safety precautions relating to various illnesses, in addition to some of the medical protocols in place. The core of the training, however, was the CPR refresher training. During this training, members practiced performing the new style of "High Performance CPR". Adult and infant mannequins were available for members to practice on. Additional practice using "choking trainers" was also performed. Scott Goldstein, instructor of the course explained "science has proven that people survive when CPR is performed immediately and correctly. That's why we train on this over, and over again. We have to be proficient with this stuff. This is what saves lives." CPR training is available to the public, and information can be obtained from the Arcadia Volunteer Fire Company website. All riding members of the fire service in Baltimore County are required to be trained in CPR. |
