February 27, 2014

Thursday night turned out to be a busy night for the members of the Arcadia Volunteer Fire Company. Shortly after 4:30, Ambulance 435 was alerted, along with other area units, for a motor vehicle collision with entrapment. Ambulance 435 arrived first and found a two-vehicle, head-on collision in the 5700 blk of Emory Road. A red, four-door sedan and a blue pickup truck were involved in the collision. Crews from Ambulance 435 began assessing the victims and attempting to gain entry to the sedan. Additional transport units were requested, as well as a Medevac from Maryland Stated Police. In total, 3 victims were transported, 1 by medevac, in stable condition to local hospitals. Units on the scene of the collision included Ambulance 435, Ambulance 415, Engine 432, Engine 422, Engine 412, Squad 414, EMS-5, and Carroll County Medic 29.

While cleaning up and returning to service, at approximately 5:30 pm, units at the scene were advised of a house fire in the 4400blk of Upper Beckleysville Road in Hampstead. Engine 432 cleared the scene and responded to assist on the fire, and Engine 434 also responded from the station to assist. Hampstead Engine 23 arrived first in and initially advised no smoke or fire was evident, but upgraded to smoke inside after investigation. Units from Arcadia arrived and staged for an assignment while crews from Hampstead and Manchester investigated. The fire was reported to be electrical in nature and units from Hampstead and Manchester handled the scene.

Later that night, shortly after 7:00 PM, units from Arcadia were again alerted to assist on a building fire in Hampstead. A commercial property in the 600 blk of Hanover Pike had become filled with smoke. Units from the Hampstead Fire Company were alerted for a fire alarm sounding, and then upgraded the incident to a full box-alarm assignment upon arrival. Engine 432 responded and arrived within several minutes. Crews from Hampstead were investigating the building and placed the additional units in service.
