| Every year, the members of Arcadia Volunteer Fire Company respond to cold weather-related emergencies. The Officers and Members of the Arcadia Volunteer Fire Company want to help keep you safe this winter, by offering a few fire safety tips, specifically pertaining to winter weather.
Home fires occur most commonly in the winter time. According to statistics from the NFPA, home-heating related fires tend to occur most commonly between December and February. When heating your home, always make sure that nothing comes within three feet of heating registers or portable heaters. And as always, make sure that there are working smoke and CO detectors in your home. If the power goes out, never run a generator indoors, not even in the garage. Always make sure that the exhaust on the generator is pointed away from any occupied structures.
