Today, the fire service lays to rest a true hero. There is no greater sacrifice that a man can make on this earth, than to lay down his life for another man. On Wednesday night, April 24, Gene Kirchner made this sacrifice. For 8 days afterwards, Gene clung to life at Shock Trauma. Unfortunately, Gene succumbed to his injuries. Today, we remember and pray for Gene, his family, and his friends. Gene, your actions that night will never be forgotten. We'll take it from here. You're in a better place now, brother. Watch over us and protect us. From the Officers and Members of the Arcadia Volunteer Fire Company, Godspeed, Gene Kirchner.
