The Arcadia Volunteer Fire Company attended a training in New Windsor, MD on Sunday 4-28-13. The training was sponsored by the Maryland State Fireman's Association and hosted by the New Windsor Vol. Fire Co. At 9:00 am units assembled from Carroll, Howard, Montgomery, Garrett and Baltimore Counties for an overview of the days training. The task was to be able to supply water to two separate ladder trucks flowing 1000 gallons per minute each using only natural water sources. No fire hydrants were used in the training. Approximately 12 - 15 large capacity tankers were able to supply approximately 1400 gallons per minute of water flow from 6 different fill sites. The scenario was designed to simulate a catastrophic failure of the fire hydrant system in a semi rural town. It turned out to be a very well managed and planned out training exercise and an extremely successful training experience. Arcadia would to extend a huge thanks to the New Winsor VFC for hosting this event.
