At approximately 3:20PM this afternoon, UVFC received a fire call for a wildland/Brush/Grass fire at a farm on the 19700 block of Grave Run Road. Engines 851 & 852, Brush 858, Utility 857, ATV 85 and our reserve medic responded to the call.

The caller stated that a tractor bailing hay had caught on fire causing the field to catch fire. With the extremely dry conditions, the fire quickly spread to become a large brush fire, estimated to be approximately 25 acres of hay and was elevated to a Tanker StrikeTeam fire call at approximately 3:52 pm due to windy conditions.

Tankers and firefighter crews from multiple jurisdictions including BCoFD, Carroll County FD, Hereford VFC, Gamber VFC, Glyndon VFC, Chestnut Ridge VFC, and York County PA responded and assisted.

With a tremendous multiple hour effort from all companies involved, the fire was brought under control and extinguished. Fortunately, neither the farmer, nor any firefighters were injured during the incident.
